Monteverde is home to the famous Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve located 4,000 feet (1,440 meters) above sea level, shrouded in a fog of clouds means that there is a lot of rainfall in the area. The Reserve is a hiking reserve with hundreds of primary rain forest trees, and home to the splendid reclusive bird called the Quetzal. And
home to unique tropical plants, insects, spiders like the tarantula, howler monkeys, and the famous FERN TREE.

Location– high in the mountains of north central Costa Rica. By car it is 3.5 hours from the San Jose International Airport and the last segment -approx 15 miles of the road is dirt, gravel, and rocks so you need a 4×4 vehicle.
Temperature-cool-you need a warm rain jacket and long pants and hiking shoes or very good tennis shoes. Nights are especially cool and damp. Very humid since it is in the “clouds”
