At the base of the Arenal Volcano are many hot springs.  One does not have to dig very deep to hit the hot water.  Vacationers to Arenal have several choices for hot springs .

The most popluar is Tabacon Hot Springs and Spa.  This was the first hot springs to be developed in the Arenal Area.  It is a very forceful under ground springs emerging from the base of the volcano.  The water cascades down the base and Tabacon has built a  series of pool sand waterfalls for the enjoyment of its clients.  Also the massage therapist there are among the best trained massage therapist in Costa Rica.  Tabacon commissioned a group of therapist  from Sweden to come to their facilities  to teach the best techniques to their massage therapist.
